This is a multi-workshop series to guide Johns Hopkins graduate students and postdocs through the academic job search for teaching intensive professions. This series is presented by the Johns Hopkins University’s Teaching Academy and led by special guest facilitator Dr. Brian Rybarczyk, Associate Dean, Professional Development and Funding, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Attendance at all four sessions is not required, though it is recommended.

Session 1: Overview of The Academic Job Search for Teaching Intensive Positions

Session 3: Writing Effective Teaching, Research & Diversity Statements
In-person only, Thursday, September 10th, noon – 2:00 PM EST

  • Location: Scott-Bates Commons, East Room (302) past Nolan’s on 33rd.  
    See Map, Building 14 (enter via 33rd Street door, near Insomnia Cookies)
  • Lunch will be provided: 11:30 – noon. Arrive to pick up your lunch ticket and select your lunch at Nolans prior to the session start. You may choose a “to-go” box if you wish to eat during the workshop.
  • Please note that the session will start promptly at noon

Bonus Option: Individual consultations
In-person only,Thursday, September 10th, 2:30 – 5:00 PM EST

A limited number of opportunities for individual consultations will be available to meet individually with Dr. Rybarczyk to review your statements and/or ask questions pertaining to your career prospecting. Sign-up opportunities will be made available via a form that will be shared during the Zoom session. These will be booked in 20 min time slots with a short break in between.
